The Ocean Charter School Parent Collective (PC) includes ALL Ocean Charter School, parents and caregivers. The PC provides a forum and support network for community-building and for planning together to accomplish collective goals. Strong collaboration through parent-caregiver volunteers is at the heart of Ocean Charter School.
Facilitate open communication across the entire Ocean Charter School community through updates, announcements, and inclusive meetings.
Motivate: Encourage creativity and community participation in school activities including festivals, fundraisers, administrative support, and gardening.
Unite: Include and encourage all members to participate, focusing on the Ocean Charter School mission of offering a Waldorf-based, arts-integrated, experiential curriculum within a safe, beautiful, and successful environment.
The following Parent Collective Coordinators are volunteer positions held by parents-caregivers of current OCS students.
Coordinator of Fundraising: Jennifer Karrer (jenniekarrer@oceancs.org)
Leads the Parent Collective and is a member of the OCS Board of Trustees. The PC Coordinator of Fundraising oversees the programs that raise needed funds for OCS (e.g. AFG, Grant writing, Capital Campaign, Silent Auction, Reef Cafe, OCS Store, Book Faire, Party Book, etc).
Coordinator of Festivals: Drew Schwartz (schwartzfamily2342@gmail.com)
Ensures that OCS festivals and traditions live on (e.g. Ice cream social, Folk Dance, Knight of the Bedtime Stories, Winter Faire, and Spring Faire). The PC Coordinator of Festivals oversees the Captains of each Faire and celebration, to maintain and instill a sense of community.
Coordinator of Communication & Classroom: Holden Munson (holdenmunson@gmail.com)
Ensures the OCS parent body is informed and aware of what happens at OCS and how to get involved. The Coordinator of Communication promotes volunteerism and provides transparency for the parent leaders and the community as a whole. The Coordinator of Communications also oversees the Classroom Representatives and guides them in providing classroom support.
Coordinator of Community Building: Amy Cottle and Aishea Maas (aisheamaas@gmail.com)
(amygcottle@icloud.com)Promotes community building opportunities including welcoming new families, caregiver crafting, and promoting an inclusive atmosphere in coordination with the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion Committee.
