In keeping with our goal to provide a developmentally appropriate arts-integrated education, OCS maintains the following age requirements.
The minimum age of children applying to the school will be:
Transitional Kindergarten: age 4 on or before September 1, 2025.
Kindergarten: age 5 on or before September 1, 2025.
First Grade: age 6 on or before September 1, 2025.
All other grades: The First Grade age policy continues in this manner through all grades. This requirement helps ensure school readiness specific to the OCS, Waldorf informed Common Core Curriculum and is consistent with non-discrimination statutes.
Kindergarten
Ocean Charter School has a two-year, play-based, Kinder program that satisfies the requirements of TRTK.
State-mandated cutoff: students must be five years old on or before Sept. 1st of the year they start school.
Ocean Charter’s first-grade cutoff: students must be six years old before Sept. 1st of the year in which they start first grade.
